A typical hand cream's long chemical list versus Margot & June's four ingredients
— Why Margot & June

Four ingredients. Not twenty.

Made for hands only — not the whole body. No petroleum, no parabens, no synthetic "fragrance." Whipped beef tallow that absorbs in 90 seconds instead of sitting on top like the chemist's creams.

I'd written off tallow balms
I'd bought two or three tallow balms before this and honestly the quality wasn't what I expected — greasy, heavy, and a couple smelled odd. My wife showed me this site and I could see straight away it's just a few ingredients, no filler. You can tell they've gone for quality over quantity. My hands haven't cracked once this spring.

Quality over quantity, finally
Tried a couple of the trendy tallow tubs off Amazon — long ingredient lists and they didn't really do much. The wife found Margot & June and the first thing I noticed was four ingredients and nothing I couldn't pronounce. That's the difference. It absorbs properly and my knuckles have actually healed up.

Healed hands that have cracked for 30 years
My dad's knuckles have split every winter for as long as I can remember — he just wipes them on his trousers and gets on with it. A month of this and the deep cracks at the base of his thumb have closed up. He actually told me they feel better, which for my dad is unheard of.

He swears by it now
My husband's a builder and goes through the Screwfix jar a tin a month and still cracks. This one he keeps by the kettle and reaches for it himself. He swears by it now — never thought I'd say that about a hand cream.

Doesn't slip on his tools
The chemist creams sit on top and he won't use them at work because his hands slip on the spanners. This soaks in within a minute or two so he'll actually put it on mid-shift. Took a couple of weeks to see the cracks heal but they did.

The smell won him over
He hates anything floral or 'perfumey' — said the last cream I got him smelt like a department store. This just smells clean and natural and it's gone in a minute. Now it lives on the bathroom shelf next to his razor.

A gift he actually noticed
Four years of socks and a polite 'cheers, love'. This year I gave him this in the kraft box and he turned it over, read the back, and asked where I'd found it. First present that's got a real reaction out of him in years.

Allotment hands, sorted
Dad's retired but he's on the allotment most days and his hands show it — leathery, dry, splits round the nails. I half-expected it to sit in a drawer like the O'Keeffe's did. It hasn't. He's nearly through the first tin and asking for another.
Claire M., 4 days ago
Smoothest in years
My fella's a mechanic and his hands were like sandpaper. Smoothest they've been in years. Bought two so I can nick one.

Knuckles stopped splitting
Three weeks in and the cracks across his knuckles have closed up. Wish I'd found it sooner.

Didn't think he was the type
Said he'd 'never use that'. It's on his windowsill now and he's asked me where to get more.

Lasts ages
A little goes a long way — one tin has lasted my dad two months and it's not done yet.

Lovely as a gift
Arrived fast and beautifully boxed. Honestly didn't even need to wrap it.

Fine on sensitive skin
My partner's skin reacts to most things — no issues at all with this. Four ingredients and that's it.

Sceptical, then sold
Beef fat in a tin sounded mad to me. My hands have never been softer. We both use it now.
Tom H., 2 weeks ago
Worth being consistent
Not an overnight miracle, but used every day it's made a real difference to his cracked thumbs.
Aisha R., 3 weeks ago
She keeps nicking it
Bought it for my husband and now I use it more than he does. Ordering a second tin.

Dad loves it
Retired postman, hands battered from years on the round. He loves it — first thing he's raved about in ages.
Holly B., 4 weeks ago
No grease at all
What sold him is it doesn't leave his hands greasy. Soaks straight in and he's back to work.

Father's Day sorted
Got the two-tin set for my dad and my partner. Both chuffed. Easiest gift decision I've made.
Raw honey and whipped tallow — the heritage recipe
— Our Story

We started looking for one good thing.

Margot & June was founded by two women who got tired of looking. Looking for a hand balm strong enough for the men in their lives — fathers who'd worked with their hands for forty years, partners who came home from the building site with knuckles that wouldn't stop cracking. Everything on the shelf was full of petroleum and parabens, or smelled like a perfume counter, or just didn't work.

So we went back to an older idea — beef tallow and raw honey, the way working hands have been looked after for generations. Four ingredients. Made for one job. Quality over quantity, always.
